QUICK Make Your Own Ice Cream Bars
Servings: Makes About 1 1/2 Doz. | Prep. Time: 10 Min Prep 6 Min Bake |
These cake bars cook in 6 minutes and, you can choose your own flavor of ice cream! Buy a carton of ice cream and cut it in slices to fit the cake. You might try other flavors of cake mix, too.
Young children will need supervision with the mixer and hot oven. Cake can be cut with butter knife.
Ingredients
1 box Duncan Hines butter fudge cake mix
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup shortening
Ice cream
Directions
Mix 1/2 of the cake mix, egg, vanilla and shortening until smooth.
Add the rest of cake mix and stir until smooth.
Roll out dough between 2 pieces of waxed paper to about 1/4 inch thick.
Cut unto desired shapes, or squares. Place on greased cookie sheets, leaving spreading room.
Bake 6 minutes at 350 F. Do Not Bake until crisp.
Remove from oven and prick with a fork. Cool on cookie sheet.
Chill and assemble later or make and freeze.
