Whole Wheat Tortillas
Servings: 12 Tortillas | Prep. Time: 15 Min Prep 3 Min Cook |
Use these whenever flour tortillas are called for. They are also good sprinkled with cheese and green chilis, folded in half and fryed in a little oil.
Ingredients
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 T. vegetable oil
1/4 to 1 cup warm water
Directions
Combine dry ingredients and stir in oil.
Add enough water to make a smooth dough.
Turn our onto a floured surface and knead several times until easy to handle.
Divide into 12 balls. Roll each ball into a 9 to 10 inch circle.
Sprinkle lightly with flour and cover with plastic wrap.
Heat griddle to 425 F. (Drop of water will bounce)
Cook tortillas for 2 minutes first side, turn and cook 1 minute more.
Stack tortillas as you cook them to keep them warm and piable.
Will keep cold for 5 days, frozen 6 weeks.
Wrap in foil to reheat.
