My family is very close. When we moved back here our two daughters stayed in Milwaukee with their families, our son brought his family to Kentucky.
Elizabeth's Wedding Day
Before the wedding we posed with Elizabeth. John and I were so glad to get to be there! ( I broke my kneecap the day after her bridal shower) The wide leg black pants covered up the walking cast and I made it O.K. but, I couldn't dance! Only a few slow steps with John. It was a beautiful wedding on a beautiful day, and of course, Elizabeth was beautiful! Her new husband is a red head! I'm looking forward to red-headed babies!

One of Our Boats
We took our boat down the Mississippi (just John & I, no crew) from the Illinois River to New Orleans. He was the captain, I was the crew. Lots of work! But we always had fun wherever we went. We ate a lot of catfish on that trip. We could usually find a good restaurant close to the river. Where there were no docks, we anchored off to the side and ate ham sandwiches. We docked next to Barbara Mandrell's boat in New Orleans. She wasn't on it but, her crew was very nice!

Helping Nana B
I started my grandchildren in my kitchen at an early age! This is Elizabeth helping me load this dish washer. She is 26 now and getting married in June. And she has found the right one! She will be a McCarthy, an Irishman, and they will go to Ireland on their honeymoon. (He was born here) Pictures, recipes and stories from Ireland will be coming soon!

"Screaming Eagle"
When we bought this boat we we still owned the dealership and several pieces of property on Marco Island, and gas was about $2.00 a gallon. Needless to say we no longer own the boat, or the Marco property! We designed the paint job on John's Cigarette boat and intended to name it "Glorious" (because of old glory) but, when it was started up and was so loud, we changed the name! Ha I didn't ride in it much. I never liked my face to be blown to the back of my head, or my ears to ring for days!

Foster Pontiac Show Room, Christmas Dinner
Our showroom was so nice we used it for our holiday celebrations. ( John and I had a condo built above our store when we sold our house, so we had a nice kitchen) The kids could run and play and we could all sit at the table together! Those were the good times. When we had little ones to open presents and be excited about all the decorations. We went to Elmbrook Church for candlelight service on Christmas Eve, then back to the store for a GOOD dinner. Everyone brought something to share.

Elizabeth, My Number One Grandchild
You can find a photo of Elizabeth, standing on my dishwasher door, helping me, in the family section. She is the first of nine grandchildren, 5 girls, 4 boys. The next picture you will see of her will be her wedding to Craig, and their honeymoon to London and Ireland. She's marrying a McCarthy, don't you know!

Kris And Her Girls Making Christmas Cookies
This picture was taken in our condo above our dealership. We made cookies for all 50 or so, employees and also our customers at Thanksgiving and at Christmas time. The grandchildren all helped, even the boys, then they got to give them out. We also served coffee. The kids were so proud of their work when people would compliment them on how good they were. They even wore their aprons down to serve them. They don't look excited here, but thy were!

Truck
We bought this antique fire truck and drove in parades and participated in events to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. One of our grandsons, Christopher, has Duchenne MD. Here we are at the MD Telethon at TV6 in Milwaukee. We gave rides, answered phones, did what ever we could to help. Several employees and family members were there, too.

When we participated in parades or special events, we could always count on part of the family to join in and ride along! We also helped out local people running for office, giving them a free ride.

Me in Milwaukee
Lake Michigan - Coho Salmon For Dinner. We fished so much and caught so little, we figured that this one cost us about $100.00 a pound! Lake Michigan is tough, cold water and big waves close together. We sometimes had to wear jackets in July when we went out a few miles.

Christmas Dinner
At John's Grandmother's - The Family Feast Circa 1980. As you can see it's all men at the table. It used to be custom, the men ate first, the children second, the women last. By the time the women sat down the food was cold, and they were tired. The women stood behind and waited on the table. It was this way because the kitchens were so small. Women washed the dishes by hand as anyone left the table, and reset the table for the next person. It was a little chaotic and noisy. But, this was the only time in the year you all got together. Now you see everyone at funerals.

Jessica
I have painted a portrait (watercolor) of each of my grandchildren as a gift to them. This is my portrait of Jessica, the oldest daughter of my son Jim and his wife Kris. I am still learning. My friend, Connie Miller of Madison, is a wonderful artist. She encouraged me to get started. When I told her I only wanted to do watercolor portraits of my family she laughed. "Did you have to pick the hardest thing?" At my age I may not have time to improve! Ha

My Twin Daughters and I
Lucinda (L), Belinda, and I getting together to celebrate our birthday in Florida- we all share the same day! And all I wanted for my birthday the year they were born was a chocolate cake! Boy, did I get more!! They are beautiful inside and out, a real joy.

Cookie Time
As you can see, the kids have fun in the kitchen! I started them all at an early age, even sitting on the counter beside me. Those were the good times! John and Kathryn in the aprons I made them. They had so much fun learning to make cookies!

Our Son Jim & His Wife Kris
Jim and Kris are the proud parents of 4 children! Three girls and one boy, ranging in age from 17 to 10. Think Kris is not a busy woman? They own a Culvers restaurant in Kentucky. Upscale, great burgers and delicious custard. Kris was born in Milwaukee but enjoys Kentucky, too. She is a great daughter-in-law!

John & Betty
This is my husband John and I at our daughter Belinda's wedding to Duane in September 2010. This will be our 50th year! The day was perfect, and it was a chance for the entire family to spend quality time together. We are fortunate to have such a loving family! John and I have been truly blessed to have been able to do all the things we have done, go all the places, and be young enough to enjoy it all. For two little hillbillies from the sticks, we have been there, done that. When I was young I never would have imagined my life would be this way. We have had fun all over the world, it's been "one hell of a ride!" Thank you LORD!

Granddaughters and I painting
These are my son's three daughters. Along with cooking, I also like to share my other favorite hobbies with them, like painting. You never know, one of them might be the next Monet or Picasso! We enjoy spending time together creating art, whether in the kitchen or elsewhere.

Nana B and "Jessie Pooh"
My granddaughter and I love to spend time together in the kitchen, making memories as well as good food! Jessie is almost grown now but, still loves to be in the kitchen with me. She learned how to completely bake a pecan pie just before Christmas.

Christmas at Foster Pontiac
We were in business in Milwaukee for 35 years. We were on T.V. regularly for the last 25 of those years. This was our dealership and our family in the showroom. We often spent holidays at the store with the family, giving the grandkids the opportunity to roller blade in the showroom. We moved the cars out first of course!
